Emotion behind it:
Beautiful Positano in the Amalfi Coast of Italy is a dramatic, deluxe and more than a little dashing place. Lying in the Amalfi Coast’s front-cover splash, with vertiginous houses tumbling down to the sea. Made of a cascade of sun-bleached peach, pink and terracotta.
No less photo-worthy are its steep streets and steps. That is flanking by wisteria-draped hotels, smart restaurants and fashionable retailers. The ancient Romans built a number of sumptuous villas on the coast of Positano. The ruins of which can be seen in the vicinity of the Church dell’Assunta. It is believed that the town is developed around a Benedictine abbey, was founded in the 9th century.
The town grew considerably following the arrival of inhabitants from Paestum, who were fleeing Saracen incursions. After it was pillaged by Pisa in 1268, Positano increased its defenses, becoming similar to its powerful neighbor, Amalfi.
Once a vital part of a mighty sea power, The Positano in Italy is a sophisticated resort town today and the jewel of southern Italy’s iconic Amalfi Coast. Steep slopes covered in pedestrian lanes and sweet-scented wisteria face out onto the Sirenuse Islands.
The village abounds with smart boutiques selling lemon-themed ceramics and artisan leather sandals. Sample fresh seafood and earthy wines at the town’s countless romantic restaurants. Positano is also a great base for exploring the area whereyou can easily travel by boat to Capri, Ischia, and the Grotta dello Smeraldo cave.
